Major changes are happening in our nation’s healthcare insurance system as a result of federal healthcare reform. Premera Blue Cross is joining other Blue Cross Blue Shield plans across the country in launching an information campaign with Walgreens to help people learn more about what’s coming and how they might be affected.
Premera has a unique opportunity as the only Blue Cross Blue Shield plan that will offer individual health coverage in Washington’s exchange, Washington Healthplan Finder. Consumers who buy their own insurance will be able to go online, shop for plans, and enroll in coverage beginning Oct. 1, 2013.
The primary campaign feature is a new website hosted by Walgreens called LearnAboutReform.com, which details new benefits covered by the law, provides information and key dates, answers frequently asked questions, and includes a helpful glossary of commonly used health reform terms.
In more than 8,000 Walgreens stores around the country, you’ll notice brochures and promotional signs driving consumers to the “Learn About Reform” website. The Walgreens website also links to Premera.com, where consumers in Alaska and Washington can learn more specifically how healthcare reform affects them. Just click on the “Health Plan Basics” tab.
This effort with Walgreens is one of many that consumers will see in the coming months to help them better understand their options and feel comfortable choosing a health plan that best fits their needs.
As always, Premera is here to help. Please feel free to post your questions here, or on our Facebook page, for a prompt response.
